Educational support

The AbleHer Support Initiative is a transformative program within our charity organization designed to provide holistic support for girls and women living with disabilities. Too often, disability leads to double discrimination—both as women and as persons with special needs. This initiative seeks to break barriers, foster inclusivity, and create a safe, supportive environment where every girl and woman with a disability can thrive, learn, and lead.

Vision of the Program

To build an inclusive society where girls and women with disabilities are empowered, respected, and given equal opportunities to fulfill their potential.

Core Objectives

1. Access to Education – Ensure inclusive learning opportunities through assistive technologies, scholarships, and mentorship.

2. Health & Wellness Support – Provide access to healthcare, rehabilitation, counseling, and safe spaces.

3. Skill Development & Empowerment – Offer vocational training, digital literacy, and entrepreneurship programs.

4. Advocacy & Awareness – Challenge stigma and discrimination through campaigns and community sensitization.

5. Leadership & Representation – Support girls and women with disabilities to take up leadership roles in community and organizational structures.

Program Components

1. Educational Support

• Inclusive classroom programs.

• Provision of learning aids (Braille, hearing devices, mobility aids).

• Mentorship clubs pairing disabled girls with inspiring role models.

2. Health & Emotional Care

• Access to physical rehabilitation services.

• Counseling and peer-support groups to address mental health.

• Sexual and reproductive health education tailored for women with disabilities.

3. Economic Empowerment

• Skills training in tailoring, ICT, crafts, small-scale business.

• Start-up support for entrepreneurship.

• Partnerships with local employers for inclusive hiring.

4. Advocacy & Rights Protection

• Campaigns to end stigma and promote inclusion.

• Community dialogues engaging leaders, parents, and youth.

• Policy advocacy to influence government and institutions for disability inclusion.

5. Inclusive Leadership Development

• Leadership bootcamps for young women with disabilities.

• Training on public speaking, advocacy, and community project management.

• Creating platforms for girls and women with disabilities to represent their peers.

Volunteer & Community Role

Volunteers under this program, called “Inclusion Champions,” will:

• Support accessible education and mentorship.

• Assist in disability-friendly events and activities.

• Advocate within communities to change perceptions.

• Provide companionship and empowerment support to disabled girls and women.
